Alghero, with its 55.000 inhabitants, lies in a wide and wonderful roadsted in Sardinian north-west coast. Alghero is the tourist chief town of Riviera del Corallo. After the Second World war, Alghero become the chief touristic harbour in Sardinia. Alghero, takes its name by ALGAS, was probably founded in 1102 by The Doria. It Belonged to the Republic of Genoa until 1353, the year of Porto Conte fight, when aragoneese fleet allied with venetian one, won the genoise admiral Antonio Grimaldi. In 1355, Pietro IV king of aragoneese people, stated the Alghero annexion to the aragoneese kingdom before and to the spanish kingdom after. Alghero keeps today too catalan language and traditions of iberian people. Alghero town is rich of historical buildings. The attention of tourist are cought by the old towere and ancient walls.
RIVIERA DEL CORALLO AIRPORT is about 5 minutes far from the city by car, while the commercial harbour of Porto Torres is 30 minutes far.
